Optimistic Voices

"You're out of the woods You're out of the dark You're out of the night"
Can't help it, people.  I'm dancing all over the house singing that song.  I don't care what the calendar says - my Peppermint Camelias are in full bloom, the Daphne Odora is sending a sweet fragrance all over the garden, and WINTER is in my rear view mirror.
I don't know the correct botanical name for these beauties, I just know they are lighting up my garden with a visual version of the Hallelujah Chorus and a little bit of The Isley Brothers "Shout" thrown in for good measure.
As for the Daphne Odora - OMG.  She is a magical little shrub who displays shiny green leaves year round and in FEBRUARY (go figure) she puts on a show with little pink flowers that smell like I think Heaven is going to look.  This blog does not feature smell-o-vision.  Such a pity.  Just take my word for it.
Her scent catches me in the face from twenty feet away.
Yes - we are prone to rogue snow storms in March.  We have also been known to warm up in mid-February and never look back.  I'm going with the latter.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Today is Countdown Friday

  1. OK, girlfriend, rub it in! We had 2 more inches of SNOW during the night, for a total of about 20-22" this week!! Sprouts of bulbs are somewhere UNDER all of it!! lol Rain coming tomorrow with a mix tonight. A good time to just look at flower pictures on Southern gals' blogs! ;-)

  2. WOW! I want to move least for the winter :) Beautiful! It is amazing the extra energy and "spring" in our step we have in the Springtime.
