This past Saturday was one of those days that make you smile. If you have ever clicked on my link to Sally's Y on this blog - you already know the story of Sally Clark. If not - suffice it to say that Sally's Y is a glorious happy ending to what began as an unspeakable tragedy.
In April 2004, Sally Clark and her cousin, Grace Jordan, were taken from the world in a fatal car accident involving a drunk driver. Sally was 19 years old, a freshman in college. Struggling with how to properly pay tribute to their daughter's life and her strong Christian faith, her parents, David and Jo Clark, decided to build a YMCA in her honor. After donating a prime piece of property, they began a six year journey of love that included the gargantuan task of raising seven million dollars in a Capital Funds Campaign, building support for the new Y within the community, and shepherding the project along to completion.
Nearly four years ago, I joined in the fun by organizing and steering a Christmas Tour of Homes for Sally's Y. During that effort and ever since, I have been honored to stand with many others in the community - both as a volunteer and as a member of the board - in making sure that the Clark's vision became a reality.
On Saturday, January 29, 2011, we opened the doors. The smiles on these faces at the ribbon cutting say it all. David and Jo Clark (in green and black) are assisting, flanked by many happy volunteers - including me, just over David's shoulder.

Today is Countdown Friday
TIME IS A PRECIOUS THING IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. GIVEN ENOUGH OF IT, EVEN THE DARKEST NIGHT CAN BECOME A MORNING FILLED WITH HOPE.
TODAY'S COUNT IS 239
